One of the things I always want to know as a man is what women want and expect in us men.
I would guess you want to know it, too, especially if you love a particular woman.
Therefore, I wanted to share my knowledge and expertise with you.
One of the things women want in men is honesty, so no matter if you’re trying to ask your crush out on a date or are in a long-term relationship with a woman you love dearly, it is always best to be as honest about how you feel for her and what you want in her.
She should be upfront with you about her expectations as well, of course.
As one woman I know told me: If a man wants sex, he should be upfront about it. I might agree with it if I find him attractive enough.
She doesn’t want a dishonest man lies and cheats on her. Nobody deserves that.
So, what besides honesty is it that women want in men?

5 Things All Women Want in Men
One of the great things about being a dating- and relationship coach is that I can survey my clients and subscribers to my email lists, giving me unique insights into what we want and desire in the opposite sex.
So, what you will get here is what women want in men, not from any other source than my female subscribers and clients.
- Humor. Everybody knows that a sense of humor is attractive to all of us.
- Intelligence/Intellect. Women want men who are intelligent and can discuss different topics with them. They want men with more brains than muscles. It always helps the conversation go on naturally, and most women find intellectual men a turn-on, at least those who responded to my survey.
- Communication. Women want a man who can communicate with them. I discussed one of the three C’s in my article How to Get Your Crush to Fall in Love with You.
- Trust. The most important thing is to deliver on your promises. You build trust over time, but you can start making it on your first date by showing up on time and then moving on to do other things later in your relationship.
- Tease and sarcasm. Women want a man who can make them experience different emotions. All women like men who tease them a bit, and most women also want a man to get sarcasm and be able to be sarcastic when the need arises. It is one of the most desirable traits that women want in men, as they think it is a sure sign of intellect and intelligence.
According to my survey, these are the five most desirable traits women want in men. I did a similar survey two years ago that yielded identical results.

One thousand five hundred women answered my survey.
At least 62,5% listed all, or nearly all of the entire list, although maybe in a slightly different way. It differentiated between honesty 100% of all women responded, to the lowest, sarcasm, with “only” 51% of all women listed as an essential personality trait in men.
Now that you know what women want in men, you must put this information to good use.
So, how can you use this information to your advantage?
That is what I will discuss in the rest of this article.
What Women Want #1: Humor
Women want a man who can make them laugh; there is a good reason for that.
According to science, humans experience a dopamine release known as “the feel-good hormone.”
It lowers stress levels, boosts your mental and physical health and immune system, and activates the reward center in the brain, according to Dr. Matt Bellace at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida (Source: Psychology Today).
Another good thing is that this will make her want to spend more time with you since you make her feel good.
It also makes her miss you, and that is one of the things that will increase your chances of keeping her in a committed long-term relationship.
What Women Want #2: Intelligence/Intellect
Women want brains more than muscles.
Women find men who are intellectuals and intelligent people attractive and exciting. Most women want more than just sex in a relationship; they want a man who understands their needs and desires inside and outside the bedroom.
You don’t need to study philosophy or poetry to have stimulating discussions with women.
All you need is a phone with Internet access, and you can start reading books on the interests of the woman you are thinking about now to know more about what she likes and enjoys.
What She Desires in Men #3: Communication
Communication skills are essential in all relationships.
I do not only mean talking here.
What I mean when I say communication is:
- The words you use. Vary your language and use synonyms, so she will know that you can say more than a couple of words.
- Your gestures. Mind how you move your hands when you talk and their position.
- Your body language. It is one of the things that any woman will notice. She will try to interpret what you mean by analyzing your body language.

What Women Want #4: Trust
Trust will develop over time as your relationship progresses and is something you must earn and deserve.
Initially, it would be best if you did things to earn her trust and prove that you deserve to be trusted.
The easiest thing is to keep your promises, show up on time, and treat her like a real human being.
When you show her that you treat her like an equal, you will improve your chances of getting a new girlfriend and keep your long-time girlfriend, fiancé, or wife happy.

What She Desires in Men #5: Tease and Sarcasm
Women love to tease you, and most want you to start doing it since they enjoy it.
It creates sexual tension between the two of you and is something that both of you should appreciate.
Start with small things so she doesn’t become annoyed, then build it up.
Sarcasm is another thing women desire in men.
A man who understands sarcasm and can be sarcastic about different things is a man who will get the attention he deserves from the woman he likes.

As you can see, she doesn’t want a guy who only wants to sleep with her and then dump her.
She wants an honest man, true to his word, who speaks to her heart, and who can be trusted.
Most women also appreciate a man who can make them laugh through humor and sarcasm and doesn’t mind if you tease her. As long as she can tease you, too, there shouldn’t be any problems or concerns over the teasing.
Teasing will help you build sexual tension between you and her, as well as humor and intellect.
